Rules and policies

Rules and policies are in place to make sure your child remains safe and well at school.

Visit the NSW Department of Education’s policy library for all current operational policies.

Our school uses the department's School Community Charter to ensure all of our communication is collaborative and respectful.

Attendance and absences

Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.

In NSW, all children from the age of 6 are legally required to attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All students must complete Year 10, or its equivalent and remain in school, employment or training until they turn 17.

For more information about compulsory school attendance, visit:

School frameworks (school rules)

As well as following the department’s operational policies, we have developed frameworks for our students in line with our school’s values and commitments.

Artarmon Public School procedures are developed in line with the Department of Education policies and in collaboration with staff and parents.

Anti-bullying

Artarmon Public School fosters an environment where all students, staff and parents feel connected, welcomed and valued. Positive relationships are nurtured through strong wellbeing programs and high expectations of exemplary behaviour are maintained at all times.

Student wellbeing

Student wellbeing encompasses everything the whole school community does to meet the personal, social and learning needs of students to enable them to become life-long learners, who can create a positive future for themselves and their wider community.

Please download Student Wellbeing Procedure for more information.

Computer

For information regarding access, security and privacy, please download and view our Digital Devices and Online Services Procedure.

Homework

Homework bridges the gap between learning at school and learning at home. It strengthens home-school links and reaffirms the role of parents and carers as partners in education. Consideration in the homework policy (PDF 109KB) is given to the key elements of quality, manageability and communication.

Student leadership

Through the promotion of students as leaders at Artarmon Public School, students of all ages are encouraged to accept leadership roles within their own class, within sporting houses and within the school.
